National Grid is hiring a Lead, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for our People Function. This position can be located in our Brooklyn, NY or Waltham, MA office, with hybrid working.

Job Purpose

The Lead, Human Resources Business Partner will support senior leaders within Group Functions (General Counsel and Strategy & Regulation) to deliver dedicated and strategic HR advice on all employee related issues, involving the interpretation and application of wider HR policy in order to suit specific business requirements and the delivery of strategic HR business objectives.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide high quality, consistent, risk-based advice for all levels of management within the assigned business area for all matters related to the management of employees, acting as a trusted advisor to build a reputation as a credible, professional and flexible HR professional.
  • Take the lead on a rotational basis on key organization wide strategic projects and activities (e.g.DEI, Talent Management, Leadership, Employee Survey).
  • Work with a range of specialist colleagues within the HR team and with the Senior HR Business Partner in order to provide tailored, best practice solutions to business problems.
  • Work with the business area to translate HR strategy into clear objectives that are aligned to the future needs and future goals of the business area in order to provide accurate and timely support that enables them to achieve their goals.
  • Analyse key themes, trends (internal and external) and performance metrics in order to identify how different scenarios may impact on the business and make recommendations for moving forward.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures in order to minimise the number of tribunals, grievances and complaints that occur because of breaches of procedure.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to build their knowledge of their customer's business and requirements in order to provide tailored 'fit for purpose' advice.
Qualifications

* Degree level in Business/HR or Learning and Development Areas or equivalent / experience.

* 3-5 years of relevant work experience.

* Proven track record of business partnering in a professional and commercial organization.
* A motivated self-starter with the ability to adapt to different business needs whilst a continuous improvement mindset.
* Demonstrate commercial drive and acumen, with the ability to influence and achieve results.
* Experience providing for key stakeholder relationship management, risk-based advice, tailored to the needs of the business working within the context of a complex, matrix organization.
* Experience of planning and delivering organization design and people change.
* Experience of developing talent and succession plans.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Strategic thinker, excellent problem-solving skills and influencing different business areas and management levels
* Be emotionally intelligent, with a number of courageous conversations under your belt to draw on when coaching and influencing others.
* Ability to analyze data and provide insights to support strategic direction.

Salary

$123k - $145k a year, in Waltham, MA.

$132k - $155k a year, in Brooklyn, NY.

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
