Principal Engineer - Virtual Devices Category: Engineering Employment Type: Direct Hire Reference: BH-383790 Q Principal Software Engineer As part of the Virtual Platform Infrastructure team, your role will involve the creation, enhancement, and ongoing support of the virtual platform infrastructure and the software that enables device virtualization for virtual machines. This includes a wide range of devices, such as RDMA, UEFI, USB, networking, storage, TPM, and more. Required Expertise & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 12 years of hands-on experience in OS and kernel development. A Master's degree is a plus. Proficiency in C programming, with additional experience in C++ and scripting languages being a bonus. Deep knowledge of operating system internals, including system libraries, file systems, and device drivers on platforms such as Unix, Windows, MacOS, Linux, or FreeBSD. Experience working with network device drivers, device driver development on both Windows and Linux, and in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, socket programming, and other networking protocols. Strong understanding of algorithms, performance optimization, multi-threaded programming, and challenges associated with 64-bit systems. Hands-on experience with RoCE, InfiniBand, Ethernet technologies, including switches, adapters, and fabric management. Contribution to open-source projects is highly valued. Familiarity with security principles in software design and development. Excellent debugging and performance tuning skills, with a focus on identifying and resolving complex system issues. Estimated Min Rate: $141,000 Estimated Max Rate: $225,000 Note: Any pay ranges displayed are estimations.
