Purpose of Position

Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as aircraft parts, licenses/agreements, hardware, electronics, and raw material for the organization.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • The Senior Buyer has a proven track record in cost reduction and development of strategic sourcing strategies. Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals and processes. Is successful in forecasting, monitoring inventory levels and supplier performance. Implements continuous improvement and recommendations. Works with allocated key suppliers to improve on time delivery and quality statistics to target levels. Expedite and reschedule to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrates ability to handle heavy workloads and changing priorities to achieve company goals and ability to work independently and follow through on tasks. Must have outstanding organizational skills and proven ability to manage priorities and work schedule to meet multiple deadlines and expectations.
  • Ensure that all departments are advised on order status to facilitate answering customer inquiries. Works with Engineering groups in sourcing new designs and material specifications. Excellent communication skills with ability to interface with multiple internal departments.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international standard procurement practices and procedures.
  • Experience in export/import regulations, ITAR and knowledge of current incoterms.
  • Accountable for the security of FSI materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FSI products.
  • Advise and mentor the Junior Buyer on purchasing activities, review and allocate workload based on requisition count and work-in-progress activity.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree from college or university in a supply chain discipline; and a minimum of eight years' experience; AS in related discipline with ten years; or High School diploma with twelve years; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a thorough understanding of buying and sourcing techniques, and knowledge of local, regional and national major vendors.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; Able to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY:

Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
