Job Title: Station Manager - IAD/DCA

Location: Sterling, VA

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Station Manager in Sterling, Virginia. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the daily operations of our freight forwarding station while strategically driving business development and revenue growth. Your leadership will ensure the efficient, cost-effective, and timely handling of shipments, all while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a strong team of freight forwarding professionals, supporting our goal of being the Employer of Choice.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient shipment handling.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive commercial growth, increase market share, and enhance profitability.
  • Manage cost effectively by leading negotiations with external suppliers.
  • Ensure service quality and monitor satisfaction levels for key customers.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to execute targeted campaigns and initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends and customer needs to inform business strategies.
  • Direct annual budget preparation and evaluate performance targets.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure effective customer service through a process-oriented approach.
  • Establish and revise policies, procedures, and service standards for station operations.
  • Ensure compliance with DHL corporate policies and government regulations.
  • Hire, coach, train, and develop your team for success.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Skills / Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in the freight forwarding industry, with a focus on airfreight; ocean freight experience is preferred.
  • Import and/or export experience is required; experience with both is preferred.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience is required.
  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the CargoWise system is preferred.
  • Proven track record in business development and achieving commercial growth targets.
  • Strong ability to develop, coach, train, and mentor staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including driving KPIs and employee engagement.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial drive.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentations).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Pay Range: $135,921.38 - $181,229.00+ (Based on Experience)
