The Utilization Management Manager is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations related to utilization management (UM) team, providing guidance and support to the UM staff. The Manager works closely and collaborates with UM department and organizational leadership to meet goals and objectives. This role contributes to the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, processes, and procedures for UM programs, ensuring alignment with payor and CMS regulations to improve outcomes, optimize resource utilization, enhance efficiencies, and ensure compliance. The Manager supports continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and organizational changes to enhance the effectiveness of the UM program and quality standards. They can identify opportunities for improvement and can develop creative solutions in alignment with payor and governmental regulations. Additionally, they can assist with the management of payer initiatives or assist with Utilization Review Committee related items. The Manager provides effective leadership to UM Nurses and models effective communication and collaboration skills and behaviors. The Manager supports staff professional development by helping them set and achieve personal and professional goals and supports working at the top of RN licensure. The Manager may act as a liaison between departmental or organizational leadership, clinical teams, and other organizational departments to goals and objectives. They work with other UM leaders to promote high quality performance and standards, timely customer service, and staff coaching.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing required; master's degree preferred. Experience: Strong clinical background with 5 years acute care nursing experience required Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact licensure required. Utilization or Case Management Certification preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
