Responsibilities & Expectations:
The Nuclear Project Manager will perform project management functions in accordance with the IPS Nuclear Quality Program Manual related to electric motor repair. As Project Manager, it will be crucial to cultivate productive relationships with team, customer, and other internal management in a matrix environment to facilitate successful project completion and identify opportunities for additional business growth.
- Execute the initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing processes within the project schedule and budget with consideration to resources, risks, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate complex activities between technicians, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to execute projects within specific budgets and timelines.
- Perform contract reviews to assure complete contract and quality procedural compliance through all functional areas of the business.
- Perform order entry activities for projects and development of project schedule.
- Develop work scope change documentation with updated schedules and costs to obtain timely customer approvals.
- Develop work process travelers & instructions, customer proposals, and supplier purchase order addendums in compliance with organizational and customer quality requirements.
- Support job related procurement activities to include drawing reviews, obtaining quotes, and development of technical & quality requirements to be conveyed to suppliers.
- Prepare Commercial Grade Dedication Plans to include technical evaluations with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for engineering review.
- Preparation and oversight of project cost expenditures, forecasts, and progress evaluations to support project and financial reporting requirements.
- Prepare, participate, and report in local and divisional scheduling meetings regarding project status, milestones, risks.
- Report forecasts for delivery schedules, costs, revenue, and profit margins on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
- Implement improvement or recovery opportunities to promote successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Manage commercial risk issues of projects including claims, receivables, and contract changes.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within all functional areas.
- Act as a liaison between sales representatives, customers, and internal teams to facilitate effective communication and timely resolution of inquiries or issues.
- Provide clear and concise direction/communications to all levels of management and technicians.
- Maintain rigorous project documentation to demonstrate compliance with contractual and quality assurance program requirements.
- Manage customer returns & potential warranty claims through engineering to determine validity of requests.
- Maintain Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to assure accurate and up-to-date customer information.
- Development & submittal of nonconformance & corrective action request reports in accordance with the IPS Nuclear QA Program.
- Review and submit invoices for projects and assist the Accounts Receivables Department in obtaining timely payment for services rendered.
- Active participation in IPS Continuous Improvement Process Solutions (CIPS) projects, initiatives, and performance metrics.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects (technical sales, customer service, or similar experience may satisfy this requirement)
- Minimum 2 years working in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Familiar with Commercial Nuclear Power Plant operation desired
- Must be familiar with an industrial safety environment
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings/technical data
- Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively manage a matrix team
- Ability to anticipate events and develop adaptive strategies/tactics
- Experience in Power Management or related industry preferred
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Projects, Excel, Word)
- Contract Management experience
- Strong Customer Service & Conflict Management skills
- Critical attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to understand, perform and retain various job-related training
- Flexible with hours, overtime, and some weekend work
- Sharp analytical thinking and reasoning abilities
