Staff Research Associate II - Hematology/Oncology

Description

We
are seeking an experienced Staff Research Associate to support critical
experiments by determining optimal experimental procedures. In this role, your
responsibilities will include:

  • Isolation of protein, RNA, and DNA
  • Execution of maxiprep, miniprep,
    restriction digest, and plasmid electrophoresis
  • Production of lentiviral vectors and
    cell transduction
  • Conducting experiments using animal
    models of lentiviral transduction
  • Handling BSL2+ replication-competent
    viruses (e.g., HIV-1, Zika virus)
  • Processing samples from non-human
    primates in BSL2+ settings
  • Collaborating closely with team
    members on large-scale experiments
  • Assisting with inventory management,
    ordering, and stocking of laboratory supplies
  • Managing chemical and biohazard
    safety
  • Supporting Principal Investigator
    with IBC and ARC applications and approvals
  • Orienting new colleagues (Post-docs
    and students)
  • Proofreading manuscripts where
    listed as an author
  • Maintaining cleanliness in lab and
    office spaces

Salary
offers are determined based on various factors including, but not limited to,
qualifications, experience, and equity. The full hourly salary range for this
position is $28.88 - $46.46.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience in isolation
    of protein, DNA, and RNA
  • Experience in microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics
  • Skills in general
    molecular biology and biochemical techniques
  • Skills in working under
    BSL2+ settings
  • Ability to perform gel electrophoresis
  • Ability in maintaining proper usage of laboratory equipment
  • Ability to organize raw data into relevant formats
  • Experience in lentiviral vector usage
  • Ability to safely handle replication-competent HIV and other viruses

Preferred:

  • Skills in using computer
    and Excel software
  • Ability to communicate
    well, work in a team, organize time and orientation of new lab members
  • Ability to work with mice
