About the Job

JPI has an exciting opportunity for an Accounting and Reporting Manager - Trades to join our Finance Team located in Dallas, TX.

The Accounting & Reporting Manager will oversee the financial operations of the newly integrated vertical business unit. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, supporting business growth, and maintaining alignment with corporate financial goals. The manager will establish and streamline accounting processes to meet business needs while ensuring integration with the company's ERP platform for corporate reporting. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing day-to-day accounting activities, budget preparation, monthly closing, and compliance.

Reporting to senior leadership, the Accounting & Reporting Manager - Trades is accountable for statutory audit requirements, technical accounting education, and the design of SOX controls, ensuring compliance with new accounting standards. Leading a team of 2 -3 professionals, the Manager collaborates closely with Trades business units, legal, FP&A, executive leadership.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:

    • Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports in alignment with corporate reporting standards and timelines.

    • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies.

    • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

    • Oversee all core accounting operations for Trades business, including month-end close, financial reporting, tax, AR/AP, consolidations, audits, inter-company transactions, payroll, and expense management.

  • Accounting Operations:

    • Manage the Trades accounting teams, ensuring timely completion of monthly close activities and proactively addressing any potential accounting issues.

    • Oversee the accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll specific to the new business unit.

    • Implement streamlined accounting processes that balance speed and accuracy.

    • Manage monthly and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and adjustments.

  • ERP & Systems Integration:

    • Lead the implementation and customization of Sage Intacct to meet the specific needs of the Trades business unit.

    • Work closely with corporate IT and finance teams to ensure accurate integration of business unit financials within the corporate ERP platform.

    • Support the design and implementation of the new business management system, ensuring compatibility with corporate reporting needs.

    • Provide training and support to the accounting team on Sage functionalities and best practices.

  • Collaboration with FP&A:

    • Partner in the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly reports.

    • Provide timely financial data and insights to the FP&A team to support reliable forecasting and variance analysis.

  • Internal Controls & Compliance:

    • Establish and maintain robust internal controls within the business unit to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy.

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, as well as relevant laws and regulations

    • Develop and update financial policies to address operational changes and internal control requirements. Lead the design and execution of SOX controls within the accounting function.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting:

    • Collaborate with operational leaders to develop annual budgets and forecasts for the business unit.

    • Monitor and report on budget variances, analyzing financial performance and providing insights for management.

  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Supervise and mentor a small team of accounting staff within the business unit, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

    • Identify training needs and support staff development to build capability within the accounting team.

Non-essential Functions & Responsibilities

Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA certification required.

  • 8-10 years of accounting experience, including at least 2-3 years in a managerial role, preferably in the real estate and construction industries.

  • Strong technical accounting background with expertise in US GAAP, FASB codification.

  • In-depth knowledge of Sage Intacct functionalities and customization options.

  • Experience in training and supporting users on Sage ERP.

  • In-depth knowledge of SOX, including control design, execution, and documentation.

  • Advanced financial accounting, modeling, and analytical skills.

  • Exceptional communication abilities to explain complex accounting matters clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

  • Expertise in MS Excel with proficiency in advanced formulas and financial analysis tools.

  • Self-directed with a hands-on approach to executing tasks.

  • Strong collaborator and team player, with the ability to work effectively across departments.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy and thoroughness in financial reports.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a high level of accuracy and excellence in technical accounting and financial reporting.
