YOUR IMPACT

An opportunity has arisen in Global Tax for a tax professional to review externally prepared tax returns and global income tax provisions primarily related to investment funds (publicly traded entities, and private funds) within Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Goldman Sachs is one of the leading investors in alternatives globally, with over $450 billion in assets and more than 30 years of experience. The business invests in the full spectrum of regulated and alternatives including private equity, growth equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, hedge funds and sustainability. This position will involve significant interaction with Controllers and Global Tax as well as outside service providers (law firms, accounting firms, fund administrators), and will require strong tax and tax accounting knowledge of funds.

Primary responsibilities



  • Oversight of tax return review process for publicly traded partnerships and multi-state tax returns for tiered partnerships
  • Oversight of income tax provisions, including uncertain tax positions
  • Working with, and challenging the input from, external advisors and accounting firms
  • Liaising with other tax colleagues within the firm, particularly in the US and EMEA


Required qualifications, experience and skills



  • Professionally qualified - CPA preferred
  • 3-5 years post-qualification tax experience at a leading firm
  • Strong technical US tax knowledge
  • Strong understanding of book to tax adjustments applicable to fund structures
  • Liaise with internal controllers and third-party service providers including tax accountants, external auditors and administrators
  • Knowledge of fund level tax compliance as well as the impact and tax requirements of various fund tax structures
  • Review of the funds tax compliance work, including but not limited to Federal and State returns, K1/K3s,
  • Knowledge of US reporting of foreign investments including PFIC's
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence senior business stakeholders and make decisions
  • Flexible and able to learn quickly
  • Highly motivated team player able to work in a fast-paced environment
