Role and Responsibilities:


The Lead Floor Technician ensures floors and baseboards are maintained to provide a safe and hazard-free environment.



  • Lead and assist a team of floor care technicians in performing floor cleaning, buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing in all areas of the facility.

  • Provide coaching, training, and support to team members, ensuring that proper floor care techniques and safety protocols are followed.

  • Supervise the team to ensure timely completion of floor care tasks and that all work meets quality standards.

  • Conduct regular inspections of floors to assess cleanliness and condition, making necessary adjustments as needed.

  • Manage floor care projects, including the preparation of floors for events or high-traffic periods.

  • Assist with the maintenance of floor care equipment and ensure it is in good working condition.

  • Ensure proper handling, mixing, and application of floor care chemicals, ensuring safety and compliance with guidelines.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative environment by offering support, feedback, and guidance to team members.

  • Maintain inventory of floor care supplies, ensuring stock levels are adequate and ordering supplies when necessary.

  • Assist in specialized floor care tasks, such as deep cleaning, carpet cleaning, and grout cleaning.

  • Promote and enforce safety practices, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and equipment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to maintain a clean, well-maintained facility.


Qualifications:



  • Previous experience in floor care or janitorial work

  • Knowledge of floor care techniques, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and polishing.

  • Familiarity with floor care equipment (e.g., floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums) and chemicals.

  • Ability to lead and supervise a team of floor care technicians, providing guidance, training, and support.


Preferred Skills:



  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines while ensuring quality floor care across large areas.

  • Ability to diagnose and address floor care equipment malfunctions or challenges quickly and effectively.

  • High attention to detail to ensure floors are properly cleaned and maintained to the highest standards.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively train team members, report issues, and interact with clients or supervisors.


Physical & Environmental Demands:



  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.

  • Manual dexterity for operating floor care equipment (floor buffers, scrubbers, etc.).

  • Ability to perform tasks for extended periods while maintaining focus and efficiency.

  • Work in various environments, including offices, hallways, restrooms, and high-traffic areas.

  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals (PPE provided).

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments (air-conditioned rooms, heated spaces, etc.).

  • Exposure to noise from floor care equipment (ear protection may be provided).
