Transaction Banking at RBC Clear is one of the top strategic initiatives that will be key driver in fueling growth in the US.

RBC Clear is seeking a payments system platform expert for our US Cash Management Technology. This is a green field project to build a brand-new system to serve our corporate clients. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer out of our NJ office . This person will work collaboratively with vendors and managing front to back functions to ensure the RTB activities of technical design and development of multi-platform application systems for payments for Fedwire, ACH and RTP.

You will be heavily involved in shaping the future technology landscape of RBCCM Payments, by delivering key business values for a transformational project in our Banking Technology while implementing strategic components servicing across all CM functions defined in our roadmap.

  • You'll contribute to planning, designing, developing, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining significant portions of the payment software that support our users, including the payment system infrastructure.
  • You'll have the chance to provide and receive feedback from your peers, get coaching from more experienced engineers, and provide coaching to other developers within the team and the broader organization.
  • You will be responsible for design, develop, and ongoing maintenance of key parts of the Payments Hub platform.
  • You will need to be an expert level organizer to resolve things in a structural manner that provides clarity and direction.
  • You are not afraid of challenging the team on technical details and be able to think functionally.
  • You will drive the effort for connecting payment platform to various RBC enterprise systems using MQ, KAFKA, JMS and other software skills
  • You will perform complex maintenance and support of various Volante and Switch payment environments for USCM as well as domain API components when needed.
  • You'll carry out all run the bank tasks including analysis of Risks, Archer findings, CVEs and works with DevOps and SRE teams to deploy upgrades to Fedwire and ACH platforms.
  • You'll assist production troubleshooting and works with SRE and vendor teams to close the PTASK and Problem Tickets
  • You'll work with vendor team and Devops team to get fixes as appropriate and works to improve resilience, automation, observability and monitoring of application performance.
  • You'll assist with testing the application as needed including lendign a hand with NFT when required

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in modern technology development stacks including common cloud platforms using Java, Spring Boot experience, RESTful microservices, MQ middleware, Kafka,
  • Extensive knowledge of Connect Direct Technologies used for ACH connectivity
  • Has deep experience with unix platforms and working in Cloud based AKS deployment environment
  • Has in depth knowledge of Volante application and Switch troubleshooting knowledge and practices to connect to Federal Reserve infrastructure and enterprise applications like Sanctions, Fraud and Finacle
  • Well versed with relational databases (Azure SQL DB or similar)
  • Willing to learn new technical stacks and quick to learn and perform deployment tasks using CI/CD pipeline
  • Enforce quality standards - conduct code reviews, suggest improvements to make code more efficient, review and approve PRs
  • Can coordinate with a team of offshore developers as needed including payment platform vendor teams to meet sprint development goals
  • Familiar with Dev Ops, CI/CD, Cloud deployment, and basic infrastructural knowledge to face off with Engg Foundation Teams

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity developing with Azure cloud environment
  • Knowledge of Elastic DB

The expected salary range for this particular position is $110,000-$190,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
