As a UnitedHealthcare Community and State Missouri Community Outreach Representative, you'll help develop and activate strategies and programs to ensure equitable access to health care coverage for the underserved and positively impact the lives of more Missourians. You'll use critical thinking skills, tenacity and empathetic approach to increase growth and retention. Through strategic community engagement efforts, you will have direct impact on membership growth and retention.

Working under minimal supervision, this Community Outreach Representative is responsible for developing strategic, community-based relationships in targeted communities to increase enrollment and equitably improve population health.

Non-exempt outside/field position supporting Community Outreach team supporting a portion of Missouri

If you are in Central Missouri or Eastern Missouri, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Develop strategic relationships directly with community-based organizations, faith-based organizations and providers for the purpose of membership retention, growth, and opportunities to equitably improve population health
  • Plan, implement and coordinate strategic engagement within assigned territory
  • Develop and execute innovative outreach and marketing strategies and tactics to support membership growth and retention, innovation and member and provider experience in the assigned territory
  • Drive growth in membership and market share in designated area by developing solid cross-functional departments to align externally facing strategies
  • Understand/track membership growth
  • Be able to align growth strategies to address local market priorities and unique requirements to assure delivery of state commitments and contractual requirements in assigned territory
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to drive outreach strategies and initiatives to gain market share
  • Manage impactful relationships that drive engagement with key stakeholders, influencers, community-based organizations and faith-based organizations
  • Create opportunities, organize and represent the health plan at member advisory committees, stakeholder forums and community events
  • Demonstrate/apply understanding of applicable laws, regulations, contracts and compliance requirements (i.e., HIPAA, ACA, state contracts, CMS regulations)
  • Utilize CRM system (Salesforce) to document engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to drive growth - business development, community organizing, etc.
  • Understanding of Medicaid and state priorities
  • Understanding of community context related to health outcomes and SDOH of members

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • 2+ years of business to consumer (B2C) marketing, customer service or community outreach experience
  • 1+ years of Medicare and/or Medicaid enrollment
  • Experience working through and with others to achieve goals
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week oftentimes weeknights and weekends are required
  • Ability to travel locally up to 75% of the time within this assigned territory
  • Ability to manage complex and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills
  • Good driving history and current driver's license. Must have insured, dependable vehicle



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Managed care, Medicaid, or Medicare experience
  • Experience working with historically marginalized populations
  • Experience collaborating with providers and community organizations.
  • Proven established professional relationships with non-profits, community sources, religious/faith-based organizations (FBO's) in designated territory
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Maintaining flexible mindset to changing processes & priorities

The hourly range for this role is $28.61 to $56.06 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
