WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Capital Planning Team (CPT) is responsible for the end-to-end capital planning process for RBC US and its subsidiaries. This includes leading the execution of the annual Comprehensive Capital Analysis Review (CCAR), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing day-to-day capital management, stress testing, and capital reporting processes, and leading and executing regulatory capital management initiatives. In this role, you will have the opportunity to create tailored analysis and prepare materials on a variety of capital planning topics to facilitate decision-making for senior management and the Board of Directors. As part of this, you will be working closely with cross functional teams (incl. Risk ID, Scenario Generation, PPNR, Financial Aggregation, Treasury, etc.) to collaborate on key deliverables and produce a quality work product.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Support the CPT with the production of the U.S. Capital Plan, including preparing initial drafts of the Capital Plan chapters and associated supporting documentation (capital management policies standards, and procedures).
  • Contribute to key activities of the capital stress test cycle, such as inventorying of key assumptions, limitations, and weaknesses; mapping material risks to capital management processes; facilitating the formal review and challenge and performing quality assurance of qualitative aspects of capital adequacy assessment.
  • Prepare presentations to senior management, management committees, and the Board committees on qualitative and quantitative aspects of the capital planning process.
  • Support and lead Risk and Control Self-Assessment program for the end-to-end capital planning process, including identifying and assessing risks, documenting internal controls, and facilitating compliance with Enterprise-wide requirements.
  • Execute on strategic initiatives, as needed, in support of the long-term operating model of the CPT.
  • Provide support for Finance and Risk-related regulatory exams, as needed.
  • Review supervisory guidance and industry news to identify capital planning requirements, best practices, and trends.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis or tasks, as needed.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • General understanding of CCAR, capital planning, and/or well-rounded knowledge of regulatory exercises within financial institutions.
  • Detail-oriented and able to facilitate development of firm-wide frameworks for capital planning.
  • Writing and analytical capabilities commensurate with independent production of management-ready documentation work products.
  • Strong abilities in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

The expected salary range for this particular position is $65,000-$105,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
