Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join us as a Senior Accounts Payable Manager!

About the role

As the Senior Accounts Payable Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to the Accounts Payable team by providing strategic guidance to ensure the efficient, accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions while adhering to company policies and procedures.

What you will do



  • As a subject matter expert in accounts payable operations and fraud prevention, you'll advise leadership on best practices, oversee payment workflows, and champion continuous improvements to achieve best-in-class processes.
  • You'll be leading the optimization of payment processing, tax compliance, fraud mitigation and process improvements on the team.
  • Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including vendor master data management, invoice processing, payment disbursements, and related accounting responsibilities, while ensuring proper application of sales and use tax on invoices and manage vendor tax reporting, including 1099 and 1042-S reporting.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer service-driven approach, building strong relationships with internal departments and vendors while leading, mentoring and developing the accounts payable team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and business partners to streamline operations and enhance reporting, and prepare and present accounts payable reports, analytics, and insights to senior leadership to offer insights and support strategic initiatives.

Compensation

Salary Range: $103,300 - $172,200 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who You Are:



  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree plus equivalent years of experience in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or similar role, with 3+ years of supervisory experience leading a team.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) or similar certification, preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills, with critical attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Financial Services Industry knowledge preferred.
  • Some minimal annual travel required.
