Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our Life and Retirement Operations team as a Securities Product Administration Manager!

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for leading, supervising, and developing the Securities Product Administration team for back-office functions within Life and Retirement Operations. Additionally, you will provide oversight of 15+ variable and registered products that are administered on 6 separate administrative systems. This position also requiresvarying degrees of oversight responsibilities for 3+ external vendors providing support services for variable operations, as well as Third Party Administrators.

What you will do



  • Supervise and provide direct oversight to a team of front-line staff, team leads, and professional staff.
  • Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve employee, business and customer results.
  • Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance.
  • Conduct and ensure the completion of performance reviews.
  • Direct administrative operations under span of control.
  • Be knowledgeable about procedures, workflow; monitor constantly for timeliness and accuracy; adjusting as needed.
  • Be knowledgeable about associated regulatory requirements, and ensure that associated controls, and monitoring efforts are in place and effective
  • Successfully manage projects and audit deliverables
  • Actively seek and implement process improvements that will increase overall efficiency and quality of work.
  • Develop and prioritize annual goals that will provide framework for goal setting for all positions within the department. Monitoring for successful completion.
  • Provide periodic reports to upper management, including statistical group performance measures, inclusive of gain/loss exposure review covering operations under immediate span of control, as well as supporting teams
  • Maintain an appropriate bench strength of securities-based knowledge within the team via cross-training, and utilization of other industry tools.
  • Establish and maintain positive relations with all external and internal distribution partners, Symetra internal contacts, and all customers
  • Actively participate in product development initiatives and identify potential impacts to department procedures and workflow.
  • Take lead role in "high visibility" and high impact projects.
  • Act as key decision-maker on behalf service and operations in inter-departmental meetings.

Compensation

Salary Range: $85,400-142,000 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Who you are



  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; and 7 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of people management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience with workflow processes and demonstrated understanding of the importance of adherence to procedures, regulation, and service level commitments. Able to direct change as needed in area of process improvement.
  • Ability to develop an effective team by establishing a common cause and fostering a climate of innovation and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and communicate group goals that convey desired direction and course for staff. Proven record that goals are regularly achieved.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects to successful completion; set priorities, delegate, follow-up, and coach as needed. Manage own priorities to facilitate progress.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Proven ability to successfully propose and sell ideas.
  • Proven ability to accurately evaluate employee performance through effective writing and conducting of annual performance evaluations.
  • Advanced conflict and resolution skills as demonstrated through successful resolution of customer concerns and complaints.


  • FINRA License 26, 6 & 63 preferred


Travel:



  • Required Training & Professional Development All newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
