Research Technician

A research technician position is available in the laboratories of Drs. Jingshing Wu and Carter Ralphe located in Department of Pediatrics at the School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Research responsibilities will include assistance in overlapping efforts between both labs to study genetic/epigenetic regulation of cardiac development and how cardiomyopathy associated mutations lead to cardiac remodeling and dysfunction.

We employ multidisciplinary approaches, including human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) derivation, iPSC differentiation in multiple cell types, CRISPR gene editing, CRISPR screens, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, ATAC sequencing, computational biology and advanced animal modeling with mice. A successful candidate is expected to be a highly inquisitive, disciplined, self-motivated, with a willingness to acquire skills essential for asking research questions in developmental biology, genetics, genomics, stem cell biology, or molecular biology. The candidate should be capable of working collaboratively, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator(s), on multiple research projects.

• 60% Prepares lab and/or field test materials and samples according to established research requirements and specifications. Performs lab or field tests.
• 10% Inspects and maintains equipment, supplies, inventory, and facility spaces
• 20% Collects data and monitors test results according to established research requirements and specifications
• 5% May assist with literature reviews and/or report writing
• 5% Reviews data to summarize results for presentations or reporting

Experience with molecular biology techniques, advanced animal modeling, epigenetic analysis, and cardiovascular research preferred.

Hours are Monday-Friday, specific hours will be determined upon hire.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

The starting rate for the position is $20 per hour but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
