Overview

The Jr. Designer will work with a dynamic team to design new and modify existing areas, switching stations, and generation stations. This position offers involvement in all stages of the design process, from concept to final plans.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Jr. Designers will be responsible for various design tasks, including but not limited to: Preparing and developing construction drawings and documents (E.g., electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, and transmission).
  • Responsible for preparing physical drawings (including general arrangements, sections, elevations, installation details, raceway systems, material lists, etc.), as well as electrical schematics (Such as simplified schematics, AC 3-line schematics, and DC schematics) and wiring diagrams using New York City Building Code, OSHA, NEC, IEEE, NESC, ANSI, and Central Engineering specifications.
  • Coordinate design efforts with other designers, engineers, and station personnel; conducting field walks as needed and providing design support during construction.
  • Work with civil, electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines, designing new and modifying existing area, switching and generation stations.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of full-time design work experience or
  • Associate's Degree In Electrical Engineering 1 year of full-time design work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree In Electrical Engineering
Relevant Work Experience
  • Posses working knowledge of building codes, manufactures equipment drawings and material specifications. Required
  • This career requires a working knowledge of drafting, power plant and substation, operation and design. Required
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software. Required
  • Working knowledge of drafting standards, design drawing preparation of general arrangements, sections, elevations, installation details, electrical wiring drawings and schematics. Required
  • Familiarity with power and control wiring and raceway system concepts, design and installations. Required
  • Working Knowledge of 3D technology. Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Ability to work in all-weather condition.
  • Able to work in both office and field environments (to include substation, steam and power generation stations).
  • Able to walk extensively, climb, stoop, bend and kneel.
  • Able to work extended hours, including weekends as conditions require.
  • Able to wear the required personal protective equipment as required.
