SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, Facilities Maintenance Engineer I (Lead) is responsible for overseeing a team of Facilities Maintenance Engineer I. They are also responsible for ensuring that all cleaning tasks are completed according to agency standards at multiple facilities. Their work includes but is not limited to the following: managing cleaning supplies, training other janitors, while also performing hands-on cleaning duties as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain adequate stock of cleaning supplies and equipment, ordering new supplies as needed and ensuring proper storage
- Communicate cleaning status updates to management, report any maintenance concerns, and address any cleaning or safety related concerns
- Ensuring that all restrooms check lists are posted and up to date at each facility
- Maintain restroom check list records for the Department of Mental Health and other agencies as required
- Responsible for mixing and using various cleaning solutions within agency standards
- Work with the Facilities Operations Administration Manager to place supply purchase orders in a timely manner
- Make sure that all spray bottles with cleaning solution have secondary labels
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement cleaning policies and procedures
- Train new janitorial staff in all manners of cleaning, safety, and proper use of janitorial equipment and PPE
- Practice proper safety procedures for the wellbeing and security of all staff and clients
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three years' experience as a hands-on janitorial worker in a commercial building
- Effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Self-starter with the ability to stay ahead of the curve and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
- Working knowledge of workplace safety and illness and injury prevention practices
- Able to maintain a pleasant attitude and a customer-service orientation at all times
- Current, valid California Driver License with an acceptable driving record & reliable car and proof of liability insurance.
Work Environment:
- Primarily indoor office environment
- On occasion drive to different sites
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- May necessitate working in busy and loud environments
- May be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise, and odor
- May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
