  • For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles: Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and/or Commission Plan.
  • For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and California: Additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA)



Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Compensation Specialist II to join our team. In this role, you will assist in designing, implementing and maintaining compensation programs that help attract, retain and motivate talent. Your contributions will directly impact Shimadzu's compensation policies, including variable compensation, promotion processes, COLA and annual pay raises. This position offers you the opportunity to work across departments, influencing compensation strategy while ensuring alignment with business goals.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:



  • Develop and maintain competitive pay bands and structures for all roles, ensuring alignment with the company's compensation strategy.
  • Administer and update variable compensation plans, including commissions, bonuses, and incentives for various roles.
  • Handle the calculation and processing of compensation on variable pay plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate in salary surveys and analyze external market data to ensure competitive compensation practices.
  • Manage the COLA program by calculating adjustments for new hires, annual increases, and maintaining market competitiveness.
  • Assist with the promotion process, including evaluating roles, approving promotions, and ensuring proper documentation and alignment with pay raises.
  • Support the year-end bonus and pay increase processes, reviewing equity and ensuring accuracy.
  • Collaborate with HR, payroll, and other departments to streamline compensation workflows and address employee inquiries.
  • Assist with developing and updating compensation policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and fairness across the organization.



EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in compensation, including knowledge of variable compensation plans and salary structures.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with HR software (preferably UKG).
  • Familiarity with compensation laws and regulations (federal, state, and local).
  • Certification in Compensation (CCP) or HR-related certifications is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

This exempt, full-time position offers a starting salary range of $83,000 to $85,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. Eligible benefits include a 401K matching program and discretionary yearly contributions, with detailed information provided at the final interview stage. Additional variable compensation may include a discretionary year-end bonus based on overall company performance.

In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 scheduled holidays, and 3 floating holidays. After one year, you'll have access to a generous short-term disability program, with premiums fully covered by the company. Employees are insured at 100% of their salary for the first 6 weeks and 66 2/3% for weeks 7 to 12.
