Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Work-Study and Outreach Specialist is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day operations of the student work-study program, providing essential outreach efforts to promote available financial aid programs, and enhancing student engagement with work-study opportunities. This position serves as the key contact for both students and departments regarding work-study placements, fund allocation, and compliance with institutional policies. The specialist will also actively promote work-study and financial aid opportunities through strategic outreach initiatives and collaborate with campus partners to increase awareness and participation.
Administer the student work-study program, including fund allocation, student placement, and coordination with campus departments.Provide outreach to students about available work-study positions, ensuring that students understand eligibility requirements, benefits, and application processes.Develop and implement marketing strategies to raise awareness of work-study opportunities, including creating flyers, newsletters, and online content.Act as the primary point of contact for students and departments participating in the work-study program, providing guidance on program policies, hours, and expectations.Collaborate with departments across campus to identify and post work-study job openings.Track student work hours and ensure compliance with work-study program regulations, including budget constraints and employment guidelines.Work closely with the Director of Student Financial Assistance to monitor and adjust program funding as necessary.Assist with the promotion of financial aid programs, including scholarships and other forms of student support.Conduct workshops and information sessions for students to educate them on work-study opportunities and financial aid resources.Build and maintain relationships with departments, faculty, and external partners to ensure the ongoing success and sustainability of work-study opportunities.Compile and analyze data related to student participation in the work-study program and use this data to assess program effectiveness.Ensure the timely and accurate processing of student applications, placements, and payments.Assist with the development and review of work-study policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.Support the broader Student Financial Assistance team in other related duties and projects as needed.Develop and distribute marketing materials, such as digital content and print materials, to increase student participation in work-study programs.Stay informed about updates to federal and state regulations regarding student employment and financial aid.Provide regular reports and data analysis on the work-study program's effectiveness and progress.Assist in the planning and execution of events or workshops aimed at raising awareness of financial aid resources.
Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- Experience
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in student employment services, financial aid, or outreach programs.
- Knowledge of work-study programs, student employment policies, and financial aid processes is preferred.
- Experience working with student information systems or similar platforms.
- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to interpret and explain program policies and regulations clearly to students and staff.
- Relevant certifications in financial aid or student services are preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
Regular use of office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones.Office environment with frequent interaction with students and staff.Must not be in default on federal student loans to access Federal Student Aid databases (e.g., NSLDS, COD, FAAaccess).This position requires a background check and drug screen.

Hiring Range:
9 Hourly/Starting at $26.25, based on experience.
