Qualifications you'll bring:
- Associate degree required or the equivalent of such degree gained through experience working in a law firm, government, health insurance, or in-house role.
- Minimum of three years of progressive experience in at least two of the following areas: health insurance product experience (product development, product marketing, product implementation/operations, or product communications); contracting (confidentiality agreements, Business Associate Agreements, Statements of Work, Provider contracting/amendments); analyzing regulatory requirements; compliance work in an insurance setting (preferably health insurance or with a regulating agency).
- Understanding of the connection between legal and operational issues within corporate setting and the marketplace
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to regulatory compliance requirements
- Ability to manage projects and assignments that support the Legal Department's efforts to help the Company fulfill its regulatory obligations and client expectations
- Lexis software application experience preferred
- Demonstrated skills and experience in legal research and analysis, oral and written advocacy, and creative problem solving preferred

Your key responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Managing Counsel and/or other attorneys in the Legal Department, the Legal Specialist will assist the Company's operational units with a variety of assigned subjects and tasks while balancing and prioritizing multiple projects for timely completion.
- Services with respect to contracting (including but not limited to provider contract amendments, confidentiality agreements, or Business Associate Agreements, including first pass reviews), while identifying risk for senior staff and management and assessing compliance with appropriate corporate policies and business unit procedures.
- Services related to health insurance products (e.g., Self-Funded Plans; HMO; PPO; EPO; Medicaid Managed Care; Medicare Advantage Part C; Medicare Part D; DSNP). Includes responsibility for technical aspects of product filings such as submission of benefit materials through appropriate government regulators, tracking submission progress, and participating actively in team meetings on related topics. As needed, drafting and editing, under attorney supervision, of benefit materials (e.g., summary plan description; certificates of coverage, subscriber contracts and riders).
- Tracking and supporting contracts, corporate documents, correspondence, regulatory filings and licensing obligations, and other legal and business documents by using databases, logs or spreadsheets. Includes preparing needed materials in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint.
- Conducting legal research and summarizing such research and findings for senior staff as needed. Maintenance of legal files and an electronic legal research library is also part of this role.
- Direct internal and external contact and interaction, including state and federal regulatory agencies.
