Job Description

ORC is seeking a part-time on-call, non-exempt Right of Way Agent to work on projects in Ohio. The selected candidate must live in Ohio and can expect to report to ORC's Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati, OH office as requested. Candidate can expect to travel locally and throughout the state about 50% of the time.

What you will be doing:

As a Right of Way Agent, you will provide relocation assistance services guided by the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 and per project guidelinesand regulations, for federally funded road,Airport, Water/Sewer, and Rail projects throughout the right-of-way project lifecycle in support of the Project Manager (PM), or members of the project team. This includes preparing real estate documents, performing basic property research for ownership and boundary information, and communicating with property owners and their representatives for the relocations. You will be responsible for performinggeneral administrativework including but not limited to preparing legal documents, reports and correspondence, attending meetings, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents for file management, verbal and written communications with customers, customer service and related functions.

Here are the minimum Requirements:



  • Minimum of three (3) years of right of way acquisition experience
  • Experience utilizing the Uniform Relocation Act
  • Familiarity with ODOT policies and procedures
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, and Dropbox
  • Must have an iOS or Android smartphone to be able to access ORC's systems
  • Valid Driver's License

Physical Requirements: English language proficient. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in person, via phone and email. Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers due to high computer usage and typing. Expected to spend long spans of time in front of a computer screen. Able to read, understand and interpret department related documents and data. The employee is required to move about inside the office to access files, office equipment and to interact with other members of the staff. This role requires the employee to occasionally travel to meet with clients or vendors which involves time driving; sometimes for long durations. While meeting with clients and vendors, will need to be outdoors traversing different types of landscapes. May be exposed to the elements (heat, rain, snow, cold).
