Accounting Manager - Accurity
Purpose:
Accurity, a division of Colonna's Shipyard, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our onsite central location in Owensboro, Kentucky.
This role is responsible for managing all financial operations, overseeing accounting staff, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and industry regulations. The ideal candidate has expertise in construction accounting, ASC 606 revenue recognition, bank reconciliations, and cash flow management.
Job Description:
Financial Operations & Reporting:


  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs.
  • Oversee bank reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition, cost accruals, and financial reconciliations.
  • Produce financial performance reports and dashboards for executive leadership and project managers.
  • Work with external CPAs on state sales & use tax filings, corporate tax filings, and financial audits.


Construction Accounting & Compliance


  • Manage and maintain job costing, capital assets, and project accounting records.
  • Ensure procurement and industrial contracting transactions are accurately processed and recorded.
  • Oversee variance analysis, fixed asset activity, and debt activity for financial accuracy.
  • Monitor adherence to GAAP, internal financial controls, and construction industry regulations.
  • Assist in audit preparations and ensure compliance with applicable tax and regulatory requirements.


Leadership & Training


  • Help recruit, hire, and conduct performance evaluations for accounting and finance personnel.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff knowledge and efficiency.
  • Work closely with the company president and executive team on financial strategy and planning.
  • Foster collaboration across departments, including procurement, operations, and executive leadership.


Technology & Process Improvement


  • Utilize Microsoft Excel (XLOOKUP, Macros, M Code, Power Query) for financial modeling and reporting.
  • Oversee enterprise risk management software (Costpoint preferred) to optimize financial processes.
  • Implement internal controls and financial policies to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives in financial reporting and operational workflows.


Qualifications:


  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and at least 5 years' experience in Finance/Accounting.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel (XLOOKUP, Macros, Power Query, M Code) and accounting software.
  • Must have a strong understanding of GAAP, ASC 606, revenue recognition, and financial compliance.
  • Must be able to manage bank reconciliations, cash flow, project cost analysis, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and effectively communicate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Accounting experience in construction or industrial settings preferred.


Travel Requirements:


  • Minimal Travel; 10% or less.


Physical Requirements:


  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
