Description

The Department of Medicine is seeking a Staff Research Associate with expertise in molecular and cell biology techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience in mammalian cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein isolation, western blotting, immunocytochemistry, bacterial transformation, plasmid DNA preparation, PCR, cell transfection, and DNA subcloning. Additionally, proficiency in working with mouse models-including breeding, genotyping, dissection, and tissue collection-is required.The successful candidate will be highly organized, team-oriented, and proficient with computers, with strong communication skills. Responsibilities also include ordering supplies, maintaining laboratory equipment, and overseeing lab helpers to ensure smooth daily operations.

Hourly range: $26.52-$31.63

Qualifications

Required:


  • Excellent skills in molecular biology, cell biology, and tissue culture techniques.
  • Good work ethics, strong communication skills, honesty, and ability to work well with minimum supervision or as a part of a group.
  • General knowledge of molecular biology and mouse genetics.
  • Experience using basic laboratory equipment (centrifuges, CO2 incubators, spectrophotometer, PCR machines, pH meter, balances, plate reader, light and fluorescence microscopes, gel documentation) and familiar with both PC and Apple computer systems and software programs (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of University procedures and policies for working with biohazard, radioactive and chemicals, and their disposal.
  • General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents.
  • Experienced working with mice in research.

Preferred:


  • BS in Molecular Biology or related field.
