Veeco is looking for a Principal Technologist for our San Jose, CA location to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support critical tool development and roadmap requirements. This person will be expected to drive projects across key cross-functional groups and work closely with key customers and accounts. This person will be a self-motivated candidate who has strong communication skills, strong technical aptitude and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership to drive critical tool development and roadmap requirements based on device inflections, customer technology roadmap
• Drive customer engagement strategy with key technology review meetings, constant touch with customer technologist, R&D and integration teams
• Demonstrate leadership skills in driving cross-functional teams and groups. Takes initiatives to address key problems and communicate internally and to customer
• Possess expertise in understanding customer and device challenges and identify opportunities and position Veeco solutions.
• Act as an expert in the advanced device process and integration
• Drive N+1, N+2 tool and feature requirements with a contribution to Market Requirement Document (MRD)
• Maintain application share and drives share and Total available market (TAM) expansion
• Provide clear competitive analysis and threats
• Possess a clear understanding of business requirements and ability to drive actions to positively impact Veeco business through collaboration with functional teams

Qualifications:

Master's degree in a Technical Field(Electrical, Electronics, Physics, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering desired)and 12+years of related experience or a PhD with 8+ years of related experience. Capital equipment & semiconductor device knowledge and module process, process integration experience in logic and/or memory fabrication is required.

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

• Self-directed and possess excellent interpersonal/communication skills
• Disciplined and effective problem solving and influence skills proven through experience leading process and product improvement teams
• Collaborative attitude and comfortable with change and ambiguity
• Must have the ability to work well in a matrixed organization and adapt quickly to change
• Thorough understanding of the Logic and Memory process integration from Front End of Line (FEOL) to Back End of Line (BEOL)
• Background inmetal and semiconductorthin films technologies preferred
• Ability to travel domestic & internationally approximately 25% of the time

The expected salary range for this position is $185,000-$245,000, plus a bonus opportunity.
