The salary range for this position is $108,900 - $182,600. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See the Professorial Series (Adjunct, Clinical X, HS Clinical, In Residence, Ladder Rank) and Professor of Teaching Series - Health Sciences Compensation Plan, This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description

The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, UCI School of Medicine seeks to hire a full-time Board Certified Genetic Counselor to join our clinical and academic faculty of ten clinical geneticists and ten genetic counselors. The Division provides outpatient care and inpatient consultation services to a diverse patient population in the pediatric, adult, metabolic, prenatal and cancer genetics settings at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center and our affiliated hospitals. Division faculty members participate in didactic and clinical training of genetic counseling graduate students, residents and fellows, medical students, and other trainees. Faculty members also participate in community outreach and are actively involved in both clinical and basic science research.

This position involves providing genetic counseling in the adult genetics clinic and in the inpatient setting at UCI Health, including the neonatal intensive care unit and the newborn nursery. You will join a team of genetic counselors, medical geneticists, and other specialists who care for a diverse population of patients with a variety of referral indications. Academic activities include supervision of genetic counseling students and other trainees, thesis mentorship, didactic teaching, and opportunities to participate in clinical research.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or its equivalent
  • ABGC Board certification
  • California Genetic Counselor License or current eligibility to become licensed
  • Experience providing genetic counseling in the inpatient and/or adult setting
  • Candidate must have demonstrated capabilities for teaching, professional services and/or research suitable to the HS Clinical Professor series.
