AESC's Tennessee gigafactory in Smyrna, which has been operational and supplying electric vehicle batteries for the Nissan LEAF since 2012, was retooled in 2025 and now produces batteries for Energy Storage Systems. The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply next generation cells for BMW starting in 2026. About the Role

As part of the quality engineering team the role helps to define and establish market-focused quality targets for all assigned products or processing plans. The role would also support quality target development by generating and analyzing similar part history information (such as customer comments, warranty claim data, field reports and from innovative resources, when required).

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to quality standards and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

What You Will Do
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with the organization's quality management system, policies, and procedures in line with IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, and other industry standards.
  • Create and maintain local quality documents, standards, and records in alignment with global initiatives and compliance standards.
  • Lead the corrective action process, ensuring timely corrective and preventative actions.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance standards, providing recommendations for improvements to plant leadership.
  • Oversee the change management program, ensuring all changes are documented and completed in compliance with local policies.
  • Conduct job functions with minimal guidance, lead and delegate responsibilities, and provide support the core team members.
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications
What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, with awareness on IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 compliance auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in the development of quality processes and documentation supporting manufacturing and production environments.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate data clearly.
  • Ability to prioritize and pivot daily activities driven by production needs.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF16949 and VDA6.3 quality standards.
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO 9001 standards. (Training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is "Nice to Have"?
  • IATF 16949 and/or VDA 6.3 Lead Auditor Certification is preferred.
  • Start-up Experience: Experience or familiarity with the dynamics of start-up environments, showcasing an ability to thrive in agile and fast-paced settings.
  • Experience in supporting a highly technical automotive-related manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond English to align with the global operations of AESC.
  • Cross-cultural experience, demonstrating the ability to work in diverse and global teams.
  • Start-up experience or familiarity with agile and fast-paced work environments.
Travel

Occasional domestic travel required.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
