Basic Purpose:
Source and procure raw materials and components (inventory) in support of production requirements
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Using ERP system - Materials Requirements Planning for assigned commodities identify supply gaps. Determine net requirements and generate the required supply requirement. Schedule input of raw materials to appropriate inventory control levels and based upon pre-established targets. Alert operations of potential material shortages that would impact production schedule and develop contingency plans.
  • Convert supply requisitions to purchase orders. Confirm orders with vendors. Apply associated purchasing specifications to orders as appropriate. Manage artwork files and current revisions as necessary.
  • Negotiate prices with current vendors and seek out alternate vendors as required. Assist Accounts Payable in the resolution of invoicing discrepancies. Manage "use-ups" driven by artwork or formula changes. Processes discard requests as necessary in a timely manner.
  • Perform purchase plan forecasts as required by vendors. Set up meetings and conference calls as appropriate. Monitor vendor performance and establish action plans to improve as required. Act as liaison between the vendor and QA/QC as necessary.
  • Identify new sources either as a result of a vendor issue or to reduce cost. Initiate the required change controls and track the project as required.
  • Prepare annual budget for assigned commodities to establish standard cost for the coming year.
  • Perform required ERP maintenance. Develop and maintain the daily short term production schedule. Execute schedule changes as necessary.
  • Evaluate inventory levels to determine what can be transferred from the Lincolnton facility to the offsite warehouse.
  • Identify the need for production materials to be transferred from the offsite warehouse to the Lincolnton facility.
  • Coordinate with warehouse personnel to have items shipped to and from the offsite warehouse in an appropriate time frame.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse to reconcile inventory levels noted between the offsite warehouse and the Lincolnton facility.
  • Ensure production is uninhibited by the need for materials to be delivered from the offsite warehouse.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Training/Work Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. AA degree preferred, 2 yrs related experience in a materials organization (manufacturing experience preferred).
  • Must have computer experience, be proficient in math, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self motivated, detail oriented, work under pressure, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
