Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Pyrochemistry Research Program Manager to work in our Pyrochemical Science department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) facility with every Friday off.

The program manager directs and leads activities and projects in the development of cutting-edge technologies for the management and recycling of used nuclear fuels at the MFC. The program manager directs the development, deployment, and operation of research equipment and systems that span a range of processes, including an emphasis on molten salt-based electrochemical recycling, also known as pyroprocessing. Typical research includes high temperature chemical separations deployed in MFC's non-radiological, radiological, and nuclear facilities. Unique challenges include coordination of people and resources spanning multiple directorates, facilities, locations, and disciplines in order to drive research activities to completion.

Responsibilities Include:



  • Oversee multiple ongoing, rapidly expanding projects, some of which are managed by principle investigators/researchers.
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools. Ensure proper planning and scheduling for operational related activities to support timely and successful completion of program/project work. Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve successful project outputs.
  • Proactively manage and execute sets of projects into programs on schedule and within assigned budgets.
  • Aid in developing research, engineering, and operations teams to help stakeholders meet their goals.
  • Interface with stakeholders (DOE and others) and coordinate among INL operations, research, and business organizations to support programs in area of specialty.
  • Prepare or direct the preparation of progress and special reports to customer and management.
  • Ensure that laboratory requirements and standards for the management of projects are met and are consistently applied in the acceptance and integration of work. Integrate managed scope with ongoing and evolving mission needs.
  • Ensure that all customer contact, including major correspondence and work relationships between management and the customer is maintained throughout the duration of the program. Conduct periodic project and customer meetings to review progress and discuss issues. Ensure problems involving coordination, schedule, and the setting of priorities are resolved by the project teams. Responsible for the preparation and submission of the final project reports and prompt close-out of the projects supporting the program.
  • Develop teams as appropriate to successfully complete projects.
  • You will report to the Department Manager

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Level 4: Bachelor's in a technical field and 9 years of relevant experience. Master's in a technical field and 6 years of relevant experience. PhD in a technical field and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Level 5: Bachelor's in a technical field and 14 years of relevant experience. Master's in a technical field and 8 years of relevant experience. PhD in a technical field and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience functioning as a project lead, facility/laboratory manager, or lead role.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.


Preferred Experience:



  • Advanced degree in a technical field (e.g. Engineering, Project Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene).
  • Experience with working in and managing activities and personnel in DOE Hazard Category 1, 2, 3 Nuclear Facilities or Radiological Facilities.


Job Information:



  • The pay range for this position is: Level 4 $111,888.00 - $229,284.00) / Level 5 $134,124.00 - $275,136.00. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
