Graduate Aid Program Manager

Requirements

Under the general direction of the Associate Dean, the Graduate Aid Program Manager is responsible for providing technology support services and client services for graduate students on the Main Campus and coordinating daily systems operations and batch production scheduling, procedures, and reports that will enhance operational efficiency and administrative decision- making. This non-traditional population requires a great deal of hands-on and time-intensive counseling about managing their student loan debt, steps to rehabilitate previous student loans if they are currently in default, and how Georgetown awards merit and need-based aid. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide systems applications and support necessary for OSFS staff to administer counseling and application processing services for approximately 15,750 admission applicants and current student aid applicants each year, and to awarding roughly $210 million in aid annually for nearly 5,000 enrolled students in the form of scholarship, stipends, hourly wages, and student loans.
  • Provide client services to the increased number of both prospective and current graduate students who are seeking financial aid advising and financial support.
  • Work closely with the Associate Dean and the Director of Graduate Financial Aid Programs to set up academic enrollment periods in the Banner student system.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining the financial aid yearly setup for Main Campus graduate programs that entails setting up aid periods for current and new programs.
  • Recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by identifying problems, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements and changes.
  • Review graduate aid applications and process awards for merit aid, federal loans, and private loans, performing the Federal verification process as needed.
  • Discuss financial aid awards with prospective and current students, providing debt management counseling and explaining how aid is disbursed to cover direct and indirect costs incurred by the graduate student.
  • Work closely with the graduate academic departments to secure their merit awards on a timely basis so the need-based part of their aid application can be processed, entering the merit awards into the Banner system.
  • Assist in the creation of a new system to record merit awards by academic departments to accurately track graduate scholarship expenditures.


Work Interactions

This position reports to the Associate Dean, and has a close working relationship with the Director of Graduate Financial Aid and also works closely with the OSFS Counseling and Client Services staff as well as the Student Loan Services offices and the graduate academic department administrators. It also interacts with the Registrar's office, the Student Billing and Receivables office, University Information Services (UIS), the Graduate School and the various graduate academic departments to include students in SFS, MSB, the Graduate Medical Masters and PHD candidates, and the McCourt School as well as those in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, data analysis tools
  • Experience in Customer service
  • Communications skills and strong customer service orientation essential
  • Creative thinking, self-motivation, accuracy, organizational skills, and attention to detail are all critical to this position


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Banner Student Information System, reporting utilities such as COGNOS for report writing, PC operating systems
  • Knowledge of financial aid operations and higher education industry software

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
