The Product Development Engineer role is at the forefront of research and development for dynamic window technology. The selected individual will utilize their broad knowledge of various materials and product development experience to determine solutions to complex problems related to dynamic window technology. The ideal candidate will have a technical or engineering background coupled with manufacturing process and product development experience. What You Will Do * Responsible for technical development and implementation of new materials, creating product and processing specifications, identifying risks and opportunities to efficiently execute paths to commercialization by eliminating alternatives quickly. * Create development strategies and methodologies (experimental plans) utilizing design of experiments for material and process development. * Oversee prototyping and testing of new materials/designs, including the interpretation of test results. * Interface with vendors and external knowledge sources or utilize internal capabilities to create and test new materials. * Develop test equipment and methods to evaluate new materials and product designs. * Utilize statistical analysis to develop experimental conclusions and provide recommendations to senior leaders. * Evaluate material selection, cost analysis, and vendors as required to implement new designs. * Work with production to implement and support product and process improvements. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field with 3+ years of relevant industrial experience or a Master's degree in the same fields with 1+ years industrial experience * Knowledge of various material families, including metals, ceramics, and polymers * Experience in material characterization, including mechanical, chemical, and environmental testing * Hands-on experience with product development and design processes * Experience in deriving and establishing processing guidelines for commercial process implementation * Ability to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally * This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship What Will Put You Ahead * Experience, particularly in development or production, with ceramics or glass frits * Experience with lean manufacturing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives * Experience in successfully scaling processes from laboratory or pilot phases to full commercial production * Experience with innovation of processing techniques and the design of related equipment, particularly with a focus on improving efficiency and effectiveness At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
