As an FP&A Intern at Appian, you will support the FP&A team in gathering financial and non-financial information and providing insightful financial analysis and reporting. You will play a key role in assisting in financial modeling, competitive research of our peers in the enterprise software industry, and analyzing business performance.

Our internship is based at our headquarters in McLean, VA. Appian was built on a culture of in-person collaboration, which we believe is a key driver of our mission to be the best. Interns hired for this position are expected to be in the office 5 days a week to foster that culture and ensure we continue to thrive through shared ideas and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Data Analysis: Gather, clean, and analyze large datasets related to financial performance, sales, and customer metrics.



  • Financial Modeling: Collaborate with senior team members to build financial models for competitive peer analysis, enterprise valuation, and scenario analysis.



  • Variance Analysis: Research variances between actual and forecasted financial results, helping to provide insights into the financial health of the business.



  • Reporting: Research opportunities to better communicate financial data across Appian using a data visualization tool.




Qualifications:




  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.



  • Skills:




    • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.



    • Self starter and ability to work independently on projects and tasks



    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas, etc.).



    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
