JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences of the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar. The post-doctoral scholars will be responsible for experimental glass chemistry in the Mauro Glass Research Group at Penn State. Responsibilities include designing glass chemistries, preparing batch recipes, melting and forming glasses, and performing characterization experiments to understand fundamental glass composition-property relationships.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering or related discipline by the time of hire.
  • A successful candidate should have a strong background in glass composition design, glass melting and characterization. Documentation of results through written reports.

This postdoctoral position is funded for one year from the date of hire, with an excellent possibility of renewal pending available funding and satisfactory performance.
