Mentor - School of Continuing Studies Located in a historic neighborhood in the nation's capital, Georgetown offers rigorous academic programs, a global perspective, exciting ways to take advantage of Washington, D.C., and a commitment to social justice. Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world. Requirements Mentors supervise and provide an enriching and educational experience for a cohort of up to 25 high school students. The ideal applicant is energetic and enthusiastic about academic enrichment and the college experience. The best Mentors take the initiative to solve problems, communicate naturally and empathetically with high-school students, and can maintain daily habits that help them stay organized. The Mentor is an academic support position. College Prep: A 5-week program where students will be taking credit courses on campus while also receiving support through lectures, test prep, and group sessions with program staff. Students are required to participate in College Prep Seminars throughout their time on campus. The seminars cover three areas: Diagnostic Testing, Academic & Test Prep, and College Search & Beyond Academics. The College Prep Mentors will help with facilitating sessions on topics such as college life, the application process, and studying tips. College Prep Mentors will also hold coffee hours for the students to drop in and meet with them to ask questions, talk about their class, etc. Responsibilities: Program Development
