OUR TEAM: The Genetic Analysis Production team is a unit of experts empowered to actively participate in solving problems with innovation and flexibility. Our main objective is to maintain supply of nucleic acid products largely for forensic, academic, and clinical laboratories. Scientists that are successful on our team are highly motivated, enjoy working collaboratively on complex problems, communicate effectively, and navigate through ambiguous situations. YOUR ROLE: As a Production Scientist on the gDNA team, you will routinely manufacture a variety of DNA products to support multiple product lines and customer types. Additionally you will perform assays to ensure that products meet existing requirements for quality and functionality. You also may provide operational and technical support on multidisciplinary product improvements and new product development teams. CORE DUTIES:
1. Manufactures a variety of products to meet product specifications. Follows production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of finished product.
2. Performs assays to ensure that products meet existing quality control requirements. This includes evaluation of raw materials when necessary.
3. Understands quality requirements that relate to work area. Demonstrates good documentation practices and consistently produces quality products and documentation. Follows existing policies for data recording and record keeping.
4. Assists with writing, reviewing, and revising manufacturing and QC protocols for clarity, appropriate technical content, process improvements, scale-up, and/or raw material changes.
5. Designs experiments to problem solve and improve existing manufacturing and QC processes.
6. Assists with and follows project plans and experimental design with assistance. Provides data or information to others in work area and assists in implementation activities for own products.
7. May assist on multidisciplinary product improvement or development teams by providing information and technical support to meet team goals. Interacts as needed with Marketing, QA, and R&D personnel to identify customer requirements for new products and process improvements.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A.D., B.S., or M.S. degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology). Degree and 3+ years of postgraduate lab experience in industrial manufacturing operations as reflected in a proven record of accomplishment in the Core Duties of this position are used to determine qualification.
2. Documented record of accomplishment in experimental design and problem solving relevant to this position.
3. Documented record of organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to effectively work on several projects and/or products.
4. Ability to interpret and communicate scientific results and interact productively with others on the team.
5. Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to use a computer/Microsoft Office applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Prior industry experience.
2. Experience with ISO 9001 or cGMP Quality System requirements (e.g. complaint investigation, nonconformance, change control).
3. Experience with use of computers for collection and analysis of experimental data.
4. Is a self-starter, creative, and capable of initiating and implementing methods to accomplish the requirements of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to work at a laboratory bench for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to work with hazardous materials (e.g. chemicals, radioactivity, electrical equipment) so as not to endanger oneself or others.
3. Ability to use standard laboratory protective equipment.
