Nature and Scope

Assist in the day-to-day operations of the R&D laboratory including but not limited to, maintaining upkeep of the R&D laboratory areas and provide hands-on support to formulation and analytical scientists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive purchased items, samples shipments, etc. from the warehouse/dock and stock them in the laboratory.
  • Log in all reagents purchased per the appropriate SOP and stock the lab with logged in reagents.
  • Assist in conducting routine inventory on stock items including reagents, reference standards and gas cylinders. Check for and remove expired items, reorder new stock, document receipt, and restock labs as necessary.
  • Provide hands-on support to R&D Analytical Chemists in method development for assay of active pharmaceutical ingredient or excipient in the product development and sample testing.
  • Ensure that good housekeeping is maintained in the R&D areas.
  • Ensures all work is performed and documented in accordance with existing Company policies and procedures, as well as cGMP and health and safety requirements.
  • Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Completed at least a two-semester course work with laboratory in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.
  • Attention to detail and able to follow instructions and operating procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Physical Environment and Requirements

  • While performing duties of the job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; talk and hear.
  • Physically able to wear laboratory protective gowning and equipment, including but not limited to gowning, goggles, face shields, respirators, and protective gloves. PPE and Respirators are essential for the health and safety of employees.
  • Employees must maintain a clean-shaven appearance each working shift to wear tight-fitting respirators properly.
  • Specific vision requirements include 20/20 near vision (can be corrected with eyeglasses or contacts) and color vision.
