Financial Analyst II

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

The individual in this position is responsible for producing reports used throughout the enterprise, for identifying opportunities to enhance or create new reporting to meet business needs, for providing production assistance with presentation materials, and for providing training and quality control support within the department.

MAJOR / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Interact with business unit leaders to ensure sufficiency of existing reporting
  • Develop ad-hoc reporting to meet needs
  • Produce and publish periodic performance reporting
  • Produce Sponsor reporting, ensuring accurate and timely data
  • Enhance analytical models
  • Provide assistance with presentations
  • Ad hoc support in annual budget and monthly forecast process
  • Collect and coordinate various hotel industry research data
  • Produce STR Analysis on a regular basis
  • Assist in transition of reporting to Tableau including data validation, report creation, and dashboards
  • Assist with quality control, auditing reports produced at Financial Analyst I level
  • Assist in training new associates at Financial Analyst I level


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, MIS, Accounting, Real Estate Finance, Hotel Management, Economics, Mathematics, or similar field
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Tableau and Oracle SmartView
  • 2 years or more experience in financial analysis and/or business financial planning
  • Familiarity with US lodging industry, industry-specific reporting conventions, and research sources like STR and Highland Group
  • Understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions may move or lift light articles.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form with employees at all levels in the organization


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • 2-4 years of work experience in financial analysis preferred
  • Experience and familiarity with Extended Stay America's business and systems


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & COMPETENCIES



  • Understanding of ESA's business and the lodging industry
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Innate curiosity
  • Mathematical ability, especially relating to financial formulas
  • Organization and ability to prioritize


ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Minimal overnight travel (less than 10%)
