Nature and Scope

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Web Development Intern to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our web development team to assist in the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of websites and web applications. You will gain hands-on experience in coding, troubleshooting, and optimizing web solutions using technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and more. Additionally, you will assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues across various web-based systems to ensure seamless functionality. This internship offers the opportunity to collaborate on diverse projects, contribute innovative ideas for improving user experience, and refine your skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates should have a passion for web development, a strong willingness to learn, and a problem-solving mindset.

This internship program will require you to work in our Shirley, NY office 5 days per week, working 40 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Web Development Team in software development, website maintenance, and system updates as required.

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in Full Stack Development.

  • Learn and familiarize yourself with Microsoft Visual Studio to enhance development capabilities.

  • Assist in updating and optimizing website HTML code to ensure compliance with web accessibility standards.

  • Participate in training and development related to Web Servers and Internet Information Services (IIS).

  • Gain proficiency in the ServiceNow platform and the service desk ticketing process.

  • Research and resolve customer-reported issues and escalate complex issues to the appropriate IT staff when necessary.

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to follow instructions accurately.

  • Exhibit a proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn and apply new knowledge and skills.

  • Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, web development, engineering or a related technical field.

  • Basic understanding of a Microsoft Windows environment

  • Basic or Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or O365 platform helpful

  • Good understanding of Websites, technology and how they work

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio and/or the willingness to learn

  • Knowledge and Basic understanding HTML, CSS and JavaScript

  • Work and collaborate in a team environment

  • Must be detail oriented

  • Ability to seek out solutions independently

  • Must be able to read documents in Standard English such as Standard Operating Procedures, maintenance schedules and operating manuals.

Physical Environment and Requirements

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for extended periods of time.

Expected Hourly Rate:

$20.00 - $22.00

The hourly rate displayed is the minimum and maximum hourly rate of compensation for the role that the employer in good faith believes to be accurate at the time of the posting of an advertisement for the role.
