AESC is looking to add a full-time Senior Reliability-Safety Engineer to our team in Smyrna, Tennessee.

The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply next generation cells for BMW starting in 2026. About the Role

As a key member of AESC US LLC, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission to lead in full-value-chain battery solutions for a sustainable future. Reporting to a Sr. Manager, you will lead the reliability/safety analysis of battery products with the joint efforts from quality, process and RD teams to achieve enhanced reliability and safety targets for products including cells, modules and packs from both EV and ESS areas. Your work within the Reliability and Validation Center, RVC will directly impact our strategic goals and contribute to our position as a global leader in battery technology.

What You Will Do
  • Lead reliability/safety analysis: lead and coordinate the efforts of the failure modes' identification and study from D/P-FMEA, the study of process control specifications and the development of prevention and mitigation methods in production line, as well as the final product failure probability estimation. Technical documentation and communication with internal and external customers are required.
  • Collaborate on Product Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams in US and China to ensure the product failure modes are well studied, controlled in production line in order to achieve enhanced reliability and safety targets.
  • Drive Process Optimization: Implement and customize the developed process from RVC to the local work environment to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of overall reliability/safety analysis business.

Qualifications
What You Need
  • Proven Experience & Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in battery related majors, including but not limited to chemistry, materials, mathematics, reliability, chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering; Minimum of 3 years of RD experience in lithium-ion battery industry and 1 year of experience in reliability/safety study within the lithium battery industry.
  • Technical Proficiency: experienced skills for technical communication and documentation for internal and external customers
What is "Nice to Have"?
  • Master's Degree in technical studies
  • Multilingual Skills: Proficiency in Chinese languages beyond English is advantageous, as it aligns with our global operations and enhances communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Cross-Cultural Experience: Previous experience working in cross-cultural environments, or a demonstrated understanding of cultural nuances would be beneficial, given our global presence and diverse team.
  • Reliability skills: Master the principles and methods of reliability acceleration testing, FMEA, and 6Sigma theory, reliability data analysis software (Minitab, JMP, etc.).
Travel

Occasional domestic and international travel required.
