Summary

This position will lead the maintenance department and will ensure the provision of multiskilled technical service on all operational equipment and facility infrastructure by overseeing all daily maintenance activities, including delegation of tasks, tracking mechanical performance, directing the processes of any necessary repairs, and budgetary/cost reporting-employee safety, schedule creation, and overseeing the timely completion of scheduled projects to avoid downtime while driving department key performance indicators (KPIs) and adhering to environmental requirement

  • You will monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment while ensuring the reordering of elements when necessary and coordinating material requirements with the supervisory team.
  • You will maintain and direct the team to repair maintenance shop equipment.
  • You will utilize your expertise to direct, maintain and train on the department maintenance management system (CMMS) while tracking work orders, spare parts, and the maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • You will prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • You will communicate regularly with all maintenance mechanics and technicians, individually and as a group, to ensure effective communication concerning maintenance issues.
  • You will successfully conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine the team's competency, knowledge, and contribution.
  • Your knowledge will assist in maintaining and updating operating and training manuals for the maintenance department and assist in developing and training new procedures where gaps exist.
  • You will work on the plant's operation and systems constantly to minimize unplanned downtime, solve problems on time, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • You will coordinate the day-to-day activities as required to carry out projects that improve efficiency and reduce operating.
  • Your experience will help track, analyze, and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, and schedule compliance.
  • You will maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures, including city, county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the maintenance department.
  • You will directly review safety records to uphold maximum safety standards for all maintenance mechanics and technicians implement safety plans and requirements to correct identified shortfalls.
  • You will communicate directly with production, processing, and shipping departments and corporate engineering to implement new processes or plan for repairs.



Supervisory Responsibilities



  • Lead and direct the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, of plant equipment.
  • Oversee and understand the production floor.


Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, creativity, planning abilities, and attention to detail to complete tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and engage the team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ethical practice.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment. Must understand strategic planning, safety management, manufacturing control planning, lean manufacturing, manufacturing quality, and leadership.
  • Strong ability for conflict resolution, problem analysis, and decision-making skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred


Education and Experience:



  • High school or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in maintenance e.g., mechanical systems, electrical systems, program logic controllers, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience, managing multiple vendors, and machinery installs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (Word, Excel and, PowerPoint).
  • Background with manufacturing methods and procedures, process improvement programs and procedures.


Physical Requirements/ Other Requirements:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on computer, standing, and walking throughout the facility.
  • Lifting, standing, walking, body positions, grasping, sitting, pushing effort, pulling, climbing, walking up and down stairs, lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to work in moderate/high noise in the manufacturing area.
