Overview:

Veeco Instruments is looking for a high caliber and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering Group. As part of this group, the individual will drive development activities to enable next-generation product platforms and technologies.

Responsibilities:



  • Support the development of technologies for semiconductor equipment systems including Ion Beam Deposition, Etch and other platforms targeting a variety of applications.
  • Work hands-on with building, testing, troubleshooting, and generating testing reports of related high vacuum process equipment.
  • Develop concepts as well as drive design and testing of new components/sub-systems across product lines. This includes the design of advanced systems related high vacuum process equipment.
  • Determine the system/component specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Perform advanced data and statistical analysis to study system and process output signals and subsequently identify and/or resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with mechanical/electrical engineering, marketing, field support, and supply chain groups in carrying out system development and improvements. Work closely with the process development group to set up and assess the performance of experimental prototypes.
  • Use problem-solving methods and systems analysis to break down and solve complex problems.
  • Document results through technical status reports.
  • Assist in marathon testing and/or beta site testing at system/sub-system level and analyze field-performance.



Qualifications:

Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) with 8+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering role and 5+ years of experience in the design of Semiconductor Process equipment are required. Experience with design of semiconductor or compound semiconductor sub-systems is a must. Hands-on experience with High Vacuum Process Equipment including leak detection is required as is experience in semiconductor wafer automation and handling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Broad knowledge of electro-mechanical systems
  • Hands-on ability to assemble/disassemble complex parts and prototyping/testing experience
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to summarize and communicate complex concepts and analysis


  • Experience with defectivity reduction initiatives related to Semi-Conductor process equipment is preferred
  • Experience with Test Equipment, collection of experimental data and techniques to analyze data
  • Working knowledge of control systems, high temperature, and low-pressure system design
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% internationally and domestically

The expected salary range for this position is $147,746-$186,195,plus a bonus opportunity.
