Graduate Student Intern

About the role:

The Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence Division (CSAID) invites applications for a Graduate Student Internship Position focused on time series modeling and predictive extrapolation of data related to the execution of neutrino workflows. The student will work closely with scientific staff and our CSAID postdoctoral researcher to develop and train models, conduct studies, and analyze predictions in relation to actual data from our computing facilities.

What your day to day as a Graduate Student Intern at Fermilab will look like :

• Conducts, supports, and/or assists with research on existing and/or potential new projects as assigned by supervisor/mentor, ensuring deadlines and priorities are met.
• Develops and trains models for time series analysis and predictive extrapolation under the direction of scientific staff.
• Analyzes model predictions and their correlation to actual data from DOE computing facilities.
• May present findings through poster or paper presentations related to the area of specialty, assignment, or scientific research.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/mentor.
• Abides by and ensures compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

• Enrollment in a graduate program at an accredited university or college at the time of application.
• Educational and work experience requirements are project-dependent as determined by the internship manager/supervisor.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Relevant technical knowledge in time series modeling and predictive extrapolation.
• Ability to adapt to changing projects, teams, and workplace needs.
• Capacity to work independently with strong motivation, resourcefulness, independent judgment, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Onsite: This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Batavia office.
