Location: This position is on-site full-time in Providence, RI. The position holder will need to be within commuting distance (within 45 min).

Facilities Technician Summary:

Responsible for overall maintenance, care, cleanliness and functionality of the Providence facility. Performing routine building and general maintenance tasks. Building maintenance tasks may include carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing; landscaping; snow removal, etc. This position will coordinate outside contractors or vendors for various services. Attention to detail is important; ensuring grounds and facilities are meticulously kept.

Facilities Technician Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes outside contractors to maintain professional appearance of facilities and grounds; i.e. lawn care, painting, cleanliness, snow removal, etc.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, modifications and general facility maintenance tasks in the areas of painting, patching, fixtures, hanging artwork / bulletin boards, caulking, carpentry, plumbing, etc. Determines and oversees when an outside contractor / vendor is required.
  • Performs plumbing skills required to protect against water damage, sewer issues, and basic plumbing (toilets, faucets, etc.) needs. Obtains quotes and oversees outside contractors when needed.
  • Inspects all areas of the facility daily for cleanliness and maintenance. Addresses problems proactively, quickly and efficiently; i.e. touch up paint.
  • Builds relationships with vendors/contractors. Monitors contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
  • Solicits bids and quotes from vendors and reviews with manager.
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge and experience in electrical and mechanical support systems to include energy management systems and HVAC. Performs basic electrical work and proposes and oversees when an electrician is required.
  • Assists with maintaining building security.
  • Performs and completes work orders and maintenance helpdesk tickets in a timely manner.
  • Reviews utility usage and works with employees and management to establish conservation programs.
  • Prepares, builds, and plans for moving office furniture as needed.
  • Maintains appropriate paper good supplies, as well as other facilities inventory items.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.

Facilities Technician Qualification Requirements:

  • High school or vocational school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years' of facilities maintenance experience in a commercial environment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish required.
  • Experience with energy management systems required.
  • Basic functional knowledge of building systems, light construction, and handyman skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
  • Valid Driver's license is needed. Will require and provide a DOT Certification.
  • May be required to come in on off-shifts for emergency facility related issues.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
