DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, the incumbent will assist faculty in conducting research studies focused on the neurobiology of eating disorders in the UCSD Department of Psychiatry and Rady Children's Hospital San Diego. The incumbent will be responsible for or contribute to recruitment and screening of research participants, conducting study visits, data entry and database maintenance. The incumbent may also be crossed-trained with other research studies that the PI is conducting including brain imaging research, depending on the lab's needs. The incumbent may also assist with other project and miscellaneous duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Theoretical knowledge of Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science or a related field.

  • Theoretical knowledge of neuroanatomy/neuroanatomy background.

  • Strong computer skills including demonstrated experience with a variety of computer operating systems is essential.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the scientific and research method and experience with human subject research.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and conscientiousness.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and accurately.

  • Excellent leadership skills to coordinate multiple study components.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

  • Proven ability to keep detailed records and logs of all study supplies.

  • Ability to complete data entry for completed study visits and ensure that accuracy of data is maintained.

  • Experience conducting in-depth diagnostic interview with potential subjects and presentation in recruitment rounds.

  • Proven ability to conduct together with the PI weekly visits that include medication dispensation as well as administering interviews and questionnaires per study protocol.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated experience in providing instructions and using anxiety reduction and discomfort reduction techniques to research participants while in scanning environment.

  • Previous experience running research studies or clinical trials.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • Annual TB test, flu vaccination and background check required to be in accordance with Rady Children's Hospital health requirements.

  • Must be flexible and willing to work some early mornings or late afternoons.

  • Willing to work in several locations (e.g., UCSD Main Campus, UTC UCSD at Chancellor Park, Rady Children's Hospital, and Altman Clinical Trials Research Institute, which are the locations where recruitment, study assessment and visits are located).

  • Must have access to reliable transportation.

  • Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed.

  • Must meet criteria for eligibility to participate in MRI scanning on high field strength magnets, as determined by the MR facility safety and operating training requirements.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $55,374 - $66,064 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.52 - $31.64

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
