Job Summary Health care professional who is specifically educated and trained in the provision of certain orthoses that includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management. Competent to practice orthotics within a scope of practice that is specific to fitting certain custom fitted, prefabricated and off-the-shelf orthoses. Obligated to support and conform to professional responsibilities that promote and assure the overall welfare of the patient and the integrity of the profession. The time limited certification expires without compliance with the Mandatory Continuing Education program.
Essential Functions

Responsible for assessment of prescription and patient's needs for prefabricated orthoses includes, but is not limited to, the evaluation of the following: physical assessment, circulation, skin integrity, posture, orthotic requirements Responsible for formulation of a treatment plan based upon an assessment to alleviate limitations and enhance function. The orthotic fitter's treatment includes, but is not limited to: verification of prescription/documentation, consultation with and/or referral to other health care professionals Responsible for implementation of the orthotic fitter's treatment plan includes, but is not limited to: acquisition of physical assessment data, adjustments to accommodate individual anatomic contours, structural evaluation, patient education and instruction Responsible for utilization of a follow-up treatment plan that ensures successful orthotic outcomes, patient health and quality of life which includes, but is not limited to:* documentation of functional changes, formulation of modifications to ensure successful outcomes, confirmation of patient education and instruction Assists in scheduling patients for follow-up visits and fittings Responsible for compliance with practice management plans to develop and document policies and procedures to ensure patient wellbeing which includes, but is not limited to: adherence to applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations, following patient care guidelines and procedures, maintaining a safe and professional environment for patient care, comprehension of claims development and submission Ensures timely collection of physician prescriptions, patient demographics including insurance information and medical records for billing purposes. Submits all documents within the timeframes established by the organization Assists in the stocking and maintenance of appropriate inventories of supplies and orthoses. Assists in the fabrication of orthotics as directed under the supervision of a Certified Orthotist / Prosthetist or Certified Orthotic Technician Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
Certified Orthotic Fitter (ABCOP certified or BOC certified) Valid driver's license, an acceptable three-year motor vehicle records as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart, and a certificate of auto insurance.

Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier) Proficient computer skills (word processing) Mathematical skills Orthotic fabrication skills preferred
