Position Summary |
Winston-Salem State University, an
NCAA Division II Institution and member of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, is seeking a Head Women's Basketball Coach. The Head Women's Basketball Coach is responsible for providing coaching expertise, leadership, management, rules compliance and administration of all aspects of a competitive
NCAA Division II program resulting in a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Preferred: Master's degree; Minimum five years of collegiate coaching experience. Experience in
NCAA DI or
DII and recruiting experience in the South Atlantic/Southeast region. This is a 12-month full-time position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Application Deadline: March 17, 2025.

- Ability to effectively analyze and teach the fundamental skills and strategies of the sport.
- Ability to comply with all policies and regulations of the University, conference and NCAA.
- Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Banner.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately. Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public.
- Ability to maintain accurate files on paper and in software programs.
- Demonstrate a strong passion for coaching. ?Demonstrate strong ability to uplift young people, while teaching athletics fundamentals and life skills.
- Ability to effectively supervise personnel and complete all associated personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports in a timely manner, particularly regarding athletic budget, eligibility, compliance and travel documentation.
- Carry out all aspects of the women's basketball program in accordance with the guidelines of the Athletics Department, University, conference and NCAA rules.
- Responsible for recruiting, developing and graduating highly skilled student-athletes for the women's basketball program.
- Supervise and evaluate the women's basketball assistant coaches, manage the operations and scholarship sport budgets, market and promote the women's basketball program, and develop a competition schedule.
- Assist with fundraising initiatives for the women's basketball program and the Athletics Department.
