Assistant Coach, Women's Soccer

Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for all aspects of the development and administration of a successful NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Soccer Program. The program will be conducted in accordance with all College and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Conference of New England (CNE), rules, regulations, and policies.

The Assistant Coach is a professional employee of the College with a primary duty of teaching and instructing student-athletes in the sport of soccer. The vast majority of the Assistant Coach's time is spent on coaching/teaching/recruiting duties in both the Fall season and non-traditional season, while a minority of the Assistant Coach's time is spent performing administrative duties.

Essential Functions:

1. Coaching/Teaching Duties:
  • Assist the head coach in on and off the field instruction, evaluation, supervision and development of soccer specific skill and techniques in a successful, safe and prudent manner;
  • Organize and direct individual & small group practice activities/exercises as directed by Head Coach;
  • Assist head coach in all video work, ie: opponent film breakdown, practice film breakdown, and game film breakdown for game preparation, field education, and player development;
  • Work with head coach in any on/off field strength & conditioning activities during Fall season and non-traditional season.

2. Recruitment Duties:
  • Conduct an ongoing recruitment program through a variety of methods, with the goal to attract, select and encourage enrollment of high caliber soccer student-athletes;
  • Includes travel to games, showcases, tournaments in and out of the New England area, assistance with campus visits, and maintaining recruitment notes / email communications.

3. Administrative Duties:
  • Conduct an ongoing recruitment program through a variety of methods, with the goal to attract, select and encourage enrollment of high caliber soccer student-athletes. Could include extensive travel to games, showcases, tournaments in and out of the New England area;
  • Administrative responsibilities include social media, practice planning, team travel logistics, community service, fundraising, off campus team activities, promoting and coaching prospect clinics, Admissions events, etc;
  • Present new ideas and collaborate on strategies with the head coach to support the overall soccer program and grow its success within the conference and nationally.

4. Supervision:
  • None

Additional Functions:
  • Comply with the NCAA soccer policies, conference rules, and department policies and procedures;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach;
  • Must be able to perform Head Coach duties on an emergency basis;
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.


Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related discipline from an accredited four-year collegiate institution.
  • One to two years of soccer coaching experience at the club, high school or college level.
  • Experience in coaching and knowledge of the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies of coaching soccer with ability to recruit talented players for the program.
  • Knowledgeable and current on all College rules and regulations concerning eligibility and recruiting related to soccer.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations involving students.
  • Current driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work evening and weekends and some holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • College soccer playing experience;
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

This position is a paid stipend.
