This opportunity is in the Actuarial Services department.

Our Actuarial department is a dynamic group of professionals focusing on pricing, reserving, and data analysis for all written lines of business. The actuarial team creates, maintains and updates pricing models for underwriters to utilize; creates reserving estimates for all lines of business and assists with financial- and claims-related items, helping the organization to succeed using our insurance expertise. We aim to improve practices and efficiency across the organization, while using data to the fullest potential to gain insights that help our underwriting and management teams meet our goals.

Role Description:

As a Senior Data Analyst - Pricing, you will provide analytical and technical support to the Pricing Team, focusing on key areas of interest to the Chief Pricing Actuary, Chief Actuary, and Executive Management. Your work will involve data extraction, report design, and meaningful analysis to support the Pricing Team's responsibilities and special projects. You will collaborate across multiple departments-including Information Technology, Claims, Underwriting, and Finance-to review, interpret, and present valuable data insights that drive strategic decision-making. Additionally, you will play a vital role in designing and maintaining computer models and ensuring compliance with actuarial standards of practice.

Reporting to a Senior Actuary or Actuary, you will receive moderate supervision while engaging in detailed data reviews, identifying trends, and creating tools that enhance the Pricing Team's effectiveness. You will also contribute to innovation initiatives, support audit and regulatory data requests, and act as a data steward for the Actuarial Department, working closely with IS to resolve business reporting and data issues.

Qualifications:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science (required)


Required Qualifications:



  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
  • This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our St. Louis Corporate Office, located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO. All employees are required to submit work-from-home requests and follow our Work From Home policy, which will be provided to all candidates selected to interview.
  • 5 or more years of professional experience in data analytics, data engineering, data science or similar
  • Professional experience with SQL including writing new complex queries
  • Professional programming experience in Python and/or R
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong professional communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 10 or more years of professional experience in data analytics, data engineering, data science or similar
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Prior professional experience creating reports or dashboards, preferably using Power BI
  • Prior experience working in actuarial field and/or insurance industry
  • Experience in a data analyst or similar role
  • Advanced Excel knowledge including VBA programming, macros and writing moderately complex formulas

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
