Overview
The Manager of Technical Accounting will be responsible for analyzing accounting and regulatory guidance, summarizing the impact to the organization, and guiding the implementation of new requirements. The manager will also provide guidance on complex accounting issues, prepare technical accounting memos, develop policies and internal controls, and assist with all SEC filings and audit requirements.
Responsibilities
* Identify, research and document the Company's technical accounting issues; work proactively with external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters. * Prepare technical accounting memos on complex transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, strategic investments, debt, derivatives, etc. * Prepare workpapers for goodwill impairment, intangibles and going concern. * Draft, update and maintain the Company's accounting policies. * Prepare the statement of cash flows. * Review significant vendor agreements and evaluate the impact. * Assess the value of all intangibles and document if any impairment exists. * Assess and implement new or changes to US GAAP and be able to articulate changes and impact to management and non-Finance audience in plain English. * Develop and maintain effective internal controls. * Provide training to internal Finance and Accounting group on technical accounting matters. * Assist in the operationalizing any changes associated with new transactions or new accounting pronouncements. * Assist in the preparation of all SEC filings and quarterly earnings release. * Ad hoc projects, analysis and reporting as required by management. Qualifications
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Major: Accounting or Finance Degree must be from an accredited college or university. Education Details: * Masters in accounting strongly preferred Certifications and/or Licenses: * CPA license required Experience in lieu of required education is acceptable: No Continuing education is required to maintain license and to perform job: Yes Job-Related Experience: Customarily has at least the following experience: 5 years * Industry or public accounting firm experience in accounting, audit, or program finance with at least 5 years of proven experience in accounting and financial statement reporting. * Technical accounting experience with goodwill, intangible assets, and purchase accounting. * Demonstrated understanding and experience of financial accounting and reporting under US GAAP and SEC requirements including preparation of financial statements. * Technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in technical accounting including the research and proposal of company positions on complex accounting issues (i.e. revenue recognition, mergers and acquisition, equity accounting, lease accounting, consolidation accounting). * Comprehensive understanding and prior experience with design and implementation of accounting policies and procedures. * Previous experience in public accounting . * Strong communication skills. * Experience with Oracle and Hyperion strongly preferred.
