In this leadership role, you will mentor other architects, guide complex initiatives, and identify opportunities for improvement. You will shape strategic decisions by evaluating technical challenges and driving the adoption of best practices across the enterprise. Your expertise will help T-Mobile stay ahead of industry trends, while your leadership will champion innovation, change, and continuous improvement in IT architecture. Job Responsibilities: Strategy & Leadership: Lead the development of IT architecture strategies that align with business objectives and evolving industry trends, fostering a forward-thinking approach across the organization. Design complex solutions that are consistent with T-Mobile's digital strategy and architecture standards, ensuring cross-departmental alignment. Drive transparent communication and advocate for innovative solutions to senior leadership, influencing strategic decisions. Develop and contribute to long-term technical roadmaps, ensuring T-Mobile remains at the forefront of emerging technologies and market trends. Drive business architecture alignment by ensuring IT roadmaps directly support business capabilities and value streams. Establish and maintain IT architecture governance, ensuring adherence to standard processes in security, scalability, and performance. Innovation & Technology: Identify system weaknesses and propose innovative architectural strategies to improve network, service, and application designs. Stay attuned to emerging technologies and industry standard processes, integrating new insights into IT strategy to maintain competitive advantage. Lead the creation of technical deliverables such as architecture diagrams, data models, and microservice/API designs. Champion the adoption of new tools and technologies that enhance business outcomes, reduce technical debt and increase operational efficiency. Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies to ensure IT architecture remains adaptable to future industry disruptions. Engage with external technology vendors and partners to assess emerging solutions and drive architectural innovation. System & Technical Expertise: Define IT architecture standards and guide technical decisions that ensure alignment with business goals and operational reliability. Oversee the design and implementation of IT infrastructure, data architecture, and integration strategies. Lead efforts to diagnose and resolve system performance issues, applying corrective actions to improve reliability. Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring resilience across IT systems. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, security frameworks, and risk management practices while maintaining architectural agility. Promote DevOps and automation principles, ensuring architecture supports CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native development, and API-first strategies. Architect resilient cloud and hybrid IT models that optimize cost, security, and performance across on-prem and multi-cloud environments People & Relationship Management: Collaborate with senior management to shape project scope and ensure the adoption of IT architecture standards across departments. Mentor and guide architects, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence across teams. Promote knowledge sharing and professional development, supporting team growth through workshops and mentoring. Represent T-Mobile at industry forums and conferences, positioning the company as a thought leader in emerging technologies. Additional Responsibilities: Regularly review and refine the technology strategy to support evolving business and operational needs. Own complex technical challenges, using independent judgment to deliver effective solutions. Act as a liaison between technical teams and senior management, providing updates on architectural progress and challenges. Take on additional projects as assigned by IT leadership to further the success of the architecture team. Qualifications: Education: Master's/Advanced Degree, In lieu of Master's degree, equivalent industry experience may be considered. TOGAF 9 or higher certification preferred Experience: 7-10 years' related work experience. 7-10 years' progressive experience in software engineering/enterprise architecture/technology leadership across multiple products, systems and/or platforms coupled with strong business acumen and executive presence. 7-10 years' experience working in functional and physical architecture, solutions design, and architecture governance. 7-10 years' experience in Enterprise applications, PLM, middle-tier services, infrastructure, database, storage, distributed computing, virtualization and/or application technology. Progressive experience in software engineering/enterprise architecture/technology leadership across multiple products, systems and/or platforms coupled with strong business acumen and executive presence. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to encourage and guide a team of architects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for articulating complex technical concepts to a diverse audience. Strategic problem solver with a track record of delivering innovative architectural solutions. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range. At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
